MEN'S HEALTH CARE
LACKS QUALITY
The standard of care for men's health in this country is remarkably low. The data proves it, the outcomes prove it, and your experience probably proves it too.
The System Doesn't Want to Treat You
Testosterone therapy makes this problem obvious.
Some providers refuse to prescribe it at all, and the ones who do do so without much thought given to the individual patient. When treatment is prescribed, it usually consists of 200 mg of testosterone every 2 weeks paired with an aromatase inhibitor right off the bat whether the patient’s estrogen levels justify it or not.
This is how most of the industry operates, reducing treatment to a template and ignoring what should guide care in the first place: symptom resolution, tolerability, and individual response.
Your Doctor Can't Read Your Labs
Most lab work is incomplete before it is ever interpreted. When results do come back, they are often judged against reference ranges that mean far less than most providers think they do.
A man walks into his doctor's office with fatigue, low libido, and difficulty losing weight. His doctor orders a total testosterone test, and the result comes back at 350 ng/dL. Because the lab reference range is 264–916, the doctor tells him he is fine. He isn't.
A total testosterone level of 350 does not carry the same meaning in a 32-year-old man as it does in a 65-year-old man, and total testosterone by itself is only part of the picture. There are other markers that could explain what's happening, but most doctors don't order them or know what they mean when they see them.
Across medicine, providers routinely order partial panels, rely on surface-level interpretation, and reassure patients with answers their lab work was never designed to provide.
Most "Men's Health Clinics" Are No Better
Most men who end up at a telehealth clinic or cash-pay men’s health practice assume they are getting something more specialized. In reality, the model is often the same.
Online, you fill out a survey designed to make medication approval the likely outcome and never speak to an actual provider. In person, the process looks more legitimate, but the visit is just as standardized and just as shallow. Neither route begins with a comprehensive workup or ends with a treatment plan tailored to the patient.
The business is built on volume, and volume leaves little room for understanding you as a patient.
There Is a Better Way
