Men's Hair Loss & Skin Care in Texas
Most clinics skip blood work and hand you finasteride. We find out what’s actually causing it before we treat it.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Everyone says it’s DHT. The research says it’s more complicated. The standard explanation is that DHT miniaturizes your follicles and finasteride blocks it. However, DHT drives beard growth, chest hair, and body hair. The same hormone supposedly destroying your scalp follicles is building hair everywhere else on your body. And when researchers measured serum DHT across men at different stages of hair loss, the levels didn’t meaningfully differ between early and advanced cases. DHT is one variable. Treating it while ignoring the rest is how you end up on a medication for years without meaningful results.

Hair loss, acne, and skin issues are symptoms. The causes could be any of these.
A responsible workup should account for more than one possibility.
Hormonal Imbalance
Testosterone, DHT, thyroid hormones, and DHEA-S all influence follicle cycling and skin health. Two men with identical DHT levels can have completely different hair because follicular sensitivity is genetic. The ratio between hormones matters as much as any single level.
Nutrient Deficiency
Your hair and skin depend on a baseline of nutrients to function. When key levels are low, follicle cycling slows and collagen production suffers. These are some of the most common and most correctable causes of hair loss, and they're rarely tested for.
Metabolic & Inflammatory Dysfunction
Insulin resistance, chronic inflammation, and oxidative stress damage follicles and degrade skin through overlapping pathways. Young men with pattern hair loss show significantly higher rates of metabolic syndrome than peers.
